About

Described by his peers as a phenom, Walter W. Millsap humbly considers himself something even more powerful, an architect of phenoms. For nearly two decades, the name Millsap has been synonymous with hard work, relentless dedication, and visionary creativity. His musical journey began at just twelve years old, when he wrote and recorded his first song using a four-track recorder in his mother’s living room. By fifteen, he was already performing as a keyboardist alongside industry greats like Deborah Cox, Shanice Wilson, Tyrese, and Raphael Saadiq. Before he could even vote, Millsap signed a publishing deal with EMI under the guidance of music executive Jon Platt, and a management contract with Jay Brown, who would go on to co-found Roc Nation with Jay-Z. In his early twenties, Millsap partnered with Grammy-winning producer Timbaland, co-creating for superstars such as Alicia Keys and Jennifer Lopez. He also co-wrote and produced “Resentment” for Beyoncé’s B’Day album, adding to a list of collaborations that includes LL Cool J, Mariah Carey (with David Foster), and Brandy.Walter’s versatility in the industry is unmatched. From A&R and executive producing to composing, arranging, and managing, his fingerprints are on countless projects across genres and formats. As a music director, Millsap has helped shape the live performances of global icons like Toni Braxton, Lady Gaga, and Keke Palmer. His expertise has also graced the stages of major TV and award shows, including The Grammys, BRIT Awards, Dancing With the Stars, American Idol, MTV Awards, BET Awards, and American Music Awards. His eye for talent has been sharp since his teenage years, when he assembled a boy band from backup dancers of Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears. That group would go on to sign with DreamWorks Records under Jheryl Busby. Not long after, Millsap discovered an eleven-year-old prodigy and introduced him to L.A. Reid and Jay-Z at Def Jam Records, leading to a deal through his own company, Conjunction Entertainment.Perhaps most notably, Millsap conceptualized and developed the chart-topping group Mindless Behavior from the ground up. After nearly two years of intense grooming, covering everything from music to choreography, they were signed by Jimmy Lovine at Interscope. Their debut album soared to #2 on the U.S. R&B/Hip-Hop charts, and their follow-up, All Around the World, hit #1.Today, Walter W. Millsap runs a thriving management company, guiding the careers of artists like Toni Braxton and others poised to break through. His legacy continues to be defined by his passion for discovering the next big thing, and his relentless pursuit of excellence. In a constantly evolving industry, Millsap remains a creative force whose impact is both enduring and immeasurable.
